If you're wondering which event could bring well-to-do Uptown socialites together with edgy downtown It Girls, fashion insiders, hip hop icons, and the stars of Sex and The City, well, that would be none other than the New York City Ballet's annual Fall Fashion Gala. We mean, what else could entice both Julia Fox and Georgina Bloomberg to rub elbows in the same room?
The star-studded evening at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center kicked off with premiere dance performances including Gianna Reisen's Play Time which featured a commissioned score by Solange Knowles in her ballet debut (her sister Beyoncé and mother Tina even made a surprise appearance to support her from the audience).
While, unfortunately, the gala's longtime patron and vice chair Sarah Jessica Parker had to make an early exit before receiving this year's honor due to an emergency, her friends and co-stars Kristin Davis, Nicole Ari Parker, and ballet legend himself Mikhail Baryshnikov (a.k.a. Aleksandr Petrovsky) were on hand to celebrate in her stead.
Joining them for the glittering, floral-gilled gala dinner were co-chairs Steven Kolb, Georgina Bloomberg, Andy Cohen, Laverne Cox, Claire Danes, Hugh Dancy, Jill Kargman, Mazdack and Zanna Rassi, Deborah Roberts, Jordan Roth, Lizzie Tisch, and Elaine Welteroth as well as a slew of stars from Queen Latifah to Billy Porter to Gwendoline Christie.
Needless to say, the takes on ballet black-tie were as varied and creative as the soiree's guest list - fitting indeed for a night toasting to fashion, music, dance, and drama.
