Music holds the incredible power to transport us through cultural time and space at the sound of one soft melody. One of the most powerful styles of music, flamenco, is a fiery expression of Spanish sound and dance, energizing the emotions and spirit of the listener in the most passionate and romantic forms.
An intimate group of esteemed guests were invited to the Instituto Cervantes in New York City, to experience the De Cerca concert, listening and embarking on a Spanish sound journey with renowned international musicians Josemi Carmona and Javier Colina, with Bandolero on percussion. Carmona and Colina are true Spanish legends in the world of flamenco and honored for the modern revival of flamenco through their energy and soul on guitar and double bass.
The perfect pairing for the sensual poetry of flamenco is another celebrated Spanish art form: the exquisite wines of Bodegas Faustino from the Rioja region. At the conclusion of the concert, guests were invited to the serene garden to savor in the rich flavors of Faustino, a classic Rioja winery founded over 150 years ago. Guests delighted in a reserve tasting of the very rare 1964 Faustino paired with Spanish tapas.
Bodegas Faustino is the leader in reserve selections from the renowned Rioja region, sourced from some of the finest estate vineyards in Rioja; the wines are available nationally. The De Cerca tour – or “at a short distance” – launched in New York City and additional cities include Washington, DC, Miami, Chicago, and Boston. Tickets for the De Cerca tour around the country are available HERE.
