Last night the SculptureCenter hosted a private party to celebrate the opening of their benefit exhibition at Maccarone NY. The event served as both a fundraiser as well as a small glimpse into the organization's robust selection of contemporary artists. That includes big names like the grandiose Richard Serra, fashion favorite Sterling Ruby, and downtown stalwart Nate Lowman. Lowman, along with fellow exhibitors Adam McEwen and Ursula von Rydingsvard joined the SculptureCenter Executive Director and Chief Curator Mary Ceruti for drinks as they observed the unique pieces, many of which were already sold by the time they walked in. The benefit marked the end of a $5 million campaign which will help the Long Island City-based organization continue to bring forth bold new works in contemporary art. The benefit exhibition is open to the public 2/4 until 6 pm and 2/5 from 10 am-1 pm.
