In my professional opinion, the New York Botanical Garden's 2019 Winter Ball was the last truly fun party before the world changed and we all went on prolonged social bed rest. So it's all too fitting that a year and a half later, pandemic finally coming to a close (fingers crossed), their Spring Gala would mark the return of the city's much missed, glamorous event circuit.
Joy seemed to be the unofficial theme of the evening. Smiling maskless guests dressed in their black tie best circled about in a dance of catch ups. Glasses of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame champagne floated around the room clinking in celebration. Even the night's belle of the ball, the garden's fêted exhibit, KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature, was a pure picture of delight!
High society's biggest hitters all stepped out for the occasion. To begin, Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame hosted a star-studded cocktail hour, which saw Karlie Kloss, Jodie Turner-Smith and Alek Wek raise a glass. Following the bubbly fun, Gala Chairs Georgina Bloomberg, Gillian Hearst, Kate Davis, Lili Buffett, Kate Davis, Sharon Jacob, Holly Lowen, Ashley McDermott, Janet Montag, and Deborah Royce filled the Conservatory Tent with a sea of stylish guests including Olivia Palermo, Johannes Huebl, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Brooke Shields, Nacho Figueras, Delfina Blaquier, Prabal Gurung, Cynthia Rowley, Cristina Cuomo, Aurora James, Brian Atwood and more.
Glittering socialites and a packed dance floor aside, the event was a giant success, raising $1.3 million to support the New York Botanical Garden and its amazing education and outreach programs.
