An individual sense of fashion was the order of the evening last night at ELLE's 25th Anniversary. Along with celebrating a milestone birthday with a performance by Estelle, the event also served as the launch of The ELLEments of Personal Style, a new book that features 25 celebrity style-ites from Charlotte Gainsbourg to Candace Bushnell. -
Diane Von Furstenberg, Joe Zee, ELLE Editor-in-Chief Robbie Myers worked the white carpet before mingling with guests. Diane's look according to the book: Relaxed Glamour. "It's about practicality and easiness."
Designer Vera Wang looked simple, elegant and ultra New York in all black. Though I can't be sure, I'm almost positive her necklace is her own design but didn't work up the courage to ask. Last time I saw her at a party and mentioned I loved her jewels, she said, "I made them. I'm Vera Wang," in a tone that was meant to be far less informative than snarky.
Girlfriends actress Tracee Ellis Ross prefers "strong lines, bold pieces, whimsy, sex appeal, elegance," she says in the book and nails it with this outfit. Katie Cassidy, daughter of late icon David and the newest cast member of Gossip Girl, wore an outfit that would surely be approved by Blair.
Padma Lakshmi looked stunning and skinny in a gold and black dress. Also included as one of fashion's most stylish women, her look is considered "Urban Sensualist," and has a focus on jewelry, which she buys to commemorate special occasions. "People swear you can only wear a dress once on the red carpet, but I wear the same ones again and again. If you change the accessories, no one can tell."
