On Tuesday, downtown's coolest were treated to a walk down disco memory lane with legendary nightlife mogul and hotelier Ian Schrager and music icon Nile Rodgers.
Kicking off a new musical event series at PUBLIC, "An Evening With Nile Rodgers" saw over 150 of New York's most stylish scenesters cozy up around the fallen crystal chandeliers and crackling fire of the hotel's luxe lounge, Bar Chrystie, for an intimate chat with the musician and producer.
As guests rubbed elbows and sipped wine, Rodgers provided quite the juicy history lesson, from his Studio 54 days partying with Grace Jones to the wild stories behind some of his greatest hits with Chic, Sister Sledge, David Bowie, Diana Ross, and more. Who knew the line "Ahh, freak out" was originally "Aww, fuck off"?! Of course, with his guitar on hand, he also delighted the crowd with instantly recognizable riffs of his most beloved chart-toppers.
Following the very up close and personal conversation with Rodgers, attendees got down to some disco tunes courtesy of DJ Va$htie before heading up to The Roof for a lively, late-night after-party featuring a performance and DJ set by Blu DeTiger along with some serious skyline views.
