Between all the crowns, gowns, and the actual Princess in attendance, last night's alice + olivia capsule collection launch was certainly a fête fit for a king. He being, of course, the king of the downtown art scene, Jean-Michel Basquiat. Designer Stacey Bendet couldn't have unveiled the new line in a more fitting space, with The Hole Gallery located on the Bowery, just blocks away from the famous (or infamous) Great Jones Street, the block where Basquiat lived, worked, and left too soon.

The special CFDA Capsule Collection features the artist's signature designs on printed skirts, dresses, bags, and more. And at the A-list celebration, the garments were presented as art in themselves. What might have at first seemed a classic wine-and-cheese exhibition opening from the outside, quickly went full-on fashion rager, complete with cupcake-topped boozy Black Tap shakes, a live art installation, and a blacklight back room glowing with a DIY paint wall and the musical stylings of The Dolls (a.k.a. Mia Moretti and Margot). Guests including Leo DiCaprio's ladylove Nina Agdal, Victoria Justice, Princess Beatrice, and Nicky Hilton Rothschild all came out to toast the edgy new pieces - and take a turn in the 360-degree photo booth (while sipping Ruffino Wine and SVEDKA Vodka).
