I’ve got to tell you, the last time I was inside a Nordstrom I was at a mall on Long Island and I don’t remember there being a COMME des GARÇONS salon when you walked in. However, this is not your typical Nordstrom and this wasn’t your typical store opening. I mean, how often do you see Joan Smalls strolling down the mall corridor going to catch up with Victor Cruz? Or catch Eric Rutherford holding court in the Calvin Klein corner in a full CK runway look (Raf Simons' Calvin no less)?

Clearly, the new Nordstrom Men’s store on the corner of 57th st and Broadway is a step above most fashion destinations. Editors and celebrities alike toasted to Manhattan’s newest menswear enclave Tuesday night with a private party which featured an actual live band in the basement/shoe level as well as underground subway performers Jourdan and Tarron.

The new go-to is the company’s first stand-alone menswear shop, full of coveted brands that truly show how far streetwear has permeated the traditional echelons of fashion. This fits well within the overall Nordstrom shift to streetwear, having been one of the few retailers to host their own Sean Wotherspoon and Off-White Nike raffles, two releases decidedly off-brand for major fashion chains. #Respect.
