Dubbed "the sexiest art auction of the year," the New York Academy of Art’s annual Take Home a Nude benefit certainly kicked things up a notch for its 30th anniversary this week by honoring beloved boundary-pushing artist, Tracey Emin.
Hosted at Chelsea Industrial, this year's society-studded event saw a slew of well-heeled patrons and loyal supporters of the Academy, including Brooke Shields, Nicole Miller, Waris Ahluwalia, and even the Crown Prince and Princess of Greece, Pavlos and Marie-Chantal (gotta love some cool royals who are down for a nude or two).
Chairs for the evening included Her Clique founder Izabela Depczyk, filmmaker and Warhol dealer Shelly and Vincent Fremont, and founders of the Hall Art Foundation, Christine and Andrew Hall.
The evening began with an exciting auction of over 200 artworks by artists including Barry X. Ball, Will Cotton, Ann Craven, John Currin, Futura, and Sam McKinniss to benefit the Academy's programs. The night's honoree, Tracey Emin, also debuted a new neon piece created just for the occasion (reading, fittingly enough, "Because I'm So Fucking Sexy, I Was Born Sexy, And I Will Die Sexy"); it was purchased by Depczyk for a cool $150,000.
An exclusive seated dinner followed, during which the A-list guests chatted over their meals and raised a glass to Emin and the Academy for fostering the next generation of artists.
