This past Monday, fittingly in the midst of NY fashion week, the National CARES Mentoring Movement gathered quite an impressive, stylish flock of supporters to celebrate its fourth annual For the Love of Our Children Gala. Held at the city's uber glamorous Ziegfeld Ballroom, the evening was co-hosted by TV host and award-winning journalist Tamron Hall and best-selling author and professor Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, and much to the excitement of every guest there, featured a special appearance by the evening’s Honorary Chair, Grammy Award-winner Alicia Keys.
The mission of National CARES is to heal and transform the lives of impoverished Black children by connecting them with amazing Black men and women as mentors. This year, for the first time ever, in honor of the organization's new Scholarship Fund, which will help many young designers face in furthering their education, the Gala highlighted 16 exceptional young urban designers from New York's High School of Fashion Industries.
