Finally, a taste of Tulum has arrived right in the heart of New York City! Prepare to be transported to a lush cabana with tropical craft cocktails and flavorful food from every cool kid's favorite hideaway in Mexico.
James Gardner, owner of Gitano, just celebrated the hot spot's debut in the Big Apple with an A-list opening bash coinciding with the summer solstice. Chloe Sevigny, Leigh Lezark, Alex Pettyfer, and more came out to toast the concrete jungle oasis, located in chic downtown hood Hudson Square. Contemporary Mexican cuisine (think: grilled avocado with almonds, ceviche verde with lychees) and thirst-quenching cocktails, such as the Jungle Fever and Gitano Margarita, greeted guests.
Taking over a 24,000-square-foot lot space, the NYC outpost boasts an ultra-tropical vibe, with rich greenery surrounding the bar, rustic beachy furniture, and a giant, wood-burning oven taking center stage. While you won't actually find a beach at this location, the outdoor space is also set to house a cafe, CALÓ retail concept, curated art platform, meditation space, reflecting pool and educational urban farm.
