Dress Appropriately
You want to look as though you belong to the party of your own accord, and not just because you’re tagging along with a friend. If you’re worried about the dress code, be sure to ask ahead of time. And, since you’re going as a guest of a guest, better to err on the conservative side than to wear something outlandish and pull focus. A statement piece is fine, but nothing too outrageous -- the party isn’t for you!
(A tip from Carson Griffith, former GofG-er and expert party-goer: “If you’re a guest, and you are unsure of the dress code, you can layer. That way if the party is less fancy than you thought, you can take off the coat and you have a sweater or just a button-down.”)
