Soho’s list of shops is ever-growing, and among them many uptown staples are opening downtown locations to satisfy the demand for luxury among tourists and locals alike. Wednesday evening, Reed Krakoff celebrated the opening of his second NYC output on Greene St. An avid art collector, Krakoff’s space is outfitted with a felted tilework installation by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Arco lamps designed by Nick Allman that dangle as if torn from the ceiling, and wall-mounted chairs that function as additional seating if needed. In between kisses from Brooke Shields and ELLE’s Robbie Myers, plus a “mazeltov” from Barney’s Simon Doonan – we managed to sneak in a few questions about the designer’s neighborhood loyalties.
