There could easily be brick or dust particles that, when dry, will stain the wool and discolor it. Our Raindri is the best thing to protect your hat from the elements. On top of that, if you were to clean it, a soft-bristled hat brush is the way to go. It will not ruin the nap of the wool when brushed, yet is strong enough to lift and brush and surface particles away."
