Everyone has an old useless never to be seen again bridesmaid dress hanging, or crumpled up, in the corner of their closet. The honor of being a bridesmaid is a big one, however the return may not always reap the same benefits. Luckily FIT (the Fashion Institute of Technology) has some fashion design students ready and rearing to go and change this disaster once and for all. [Image via Dormitory Living 101]
Bridal Guide Magazine and Alfred Angelo are sponsoring the completion open to all full-time students majoring in fashion design. The participants received three photos of dresses and each submitted three sketches and fabric samples of their possible recreations. After analyzing the sketches the finalists, Heamin Choi, Xiaonan Gao, and Juda Selkowitz, were each given a dress to redesign. Bridal Guide will post the student’s before and after shots to be voted on from June 5th to the 13th. Guest of a Guest will be following the three young designers to see the transformation of these tacky garments. The winner will receive $1,500… a great start for their budding career!
