This week's Look Book from NYMag featured a variety of beach-babe-sun-worshiping-goddesses in Central Park. It was definitely a colorful spread if not useful in presenting to us some of the swimwear that real people are wearing out there. My favorite part was the comment online by MSPLAXNY:
"Its funny how many of these ladies have scars from removing belly button rings."
It's been awhile since I myself have had a close encounter with such decorative ornaments, but there is no denying that the belly button rings were conducive to my generation (like it or not). I myself never caved and got one (partly because I'm a baby around needles but mostly because I knew I would be sent to a nunnery if my parents found out...who wants to deal with the stress of hiding something like that?), but almost every girl in my class freshman year of high school did.
I'm wondering if they regret the decision. Does anyone still wear belly button rings these days? Is this still a popular form of rebellion amongst teenagers?
