Spoiler alert: it's an Hermés Birkin. As if that most covetable of purses needed to climb higher on the ultimate status totem pole. Breaking its own record, which was set in 2016, a white "Himalaya" crocodile Birkin just sold at a Christie's auction in Hong Kong for $379,261 - making it the most expensive handbag ever.
The statement piece (to say the least) features 18-karat white gold hardware and no less than 205 literal diamonds. The "Himalaya" name comes from the "delicate gradation" of color, which looks like the majestic, snow-capped mountains. According to the auction house, it's one of the rarest bags in the world, as only one or two are created each year. If that's the case, we can probably predict 2018's record-breaking purse already. Who knows? Maybe you'll be the next lucky bidder!
