"Best $2k I Ever Spent!" Celebrating With Prince Harry At The Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic

This weekend, several eastbound New Yorkers opted to give the beach a break and check out the biggest polo event of the year- at least if you're using star power as the metric. Prince Harry played alongside Nacho Figueras at the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic on Governor's Island, and faces in the crowds ranged from Madonna to Kate Hudson to Marc Jacobs. We sent Rachel Brill to the matches to check in on the hottest prince of the decade. Read what shy had to share below:

Polo and a Prince (Well, Two Princes, Actually)

It was a sea of seersucker suits and fancy hats at the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic on Governor's Island, where His Royal Highness Prince Harry squared off against world renowned Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras. The day included a VIP reception and luncheon, an open Veuve Clicquot bar, and an awards ceremony where Prince Harry sprayed the crowd with champagne. Proceeds from the event benefit Sentebale, a U.S.-based charity that supports at-risk children in Lesotho, Africa.

Celebs in attendance included Madonna with sons Rocco and David Banda, Kate Hudson, Marc Jacobs and hubby Lorenzo Martone, Chloe Sevigny, LL Cool J, Prince Seeiso Bereng Seeiso of Lesotho, Donna Karan, Byrdie Bell, Rachel Roy, Cornelia Guest, David Lauren, and First Lady Michelle Paige Paterson.

At halftime, spectators were invited onto the field for the traditional "stomping of the divots," and my friends and I gleefully stomped while quoting lines from Pretty Woman ("Beware the steaming divot!"). The winner of the match was (surprise!) Prince Harry's Sentebale team with a final score of 6-5. VIP guests received gifts of a Veuve Clicquot champagne carrying case and a Veuve Clicquot picnic blanket.
