Despite the slight (ok, more than slight) dystopian undertones, the fashion world's effortless evolution of face masks in the age of a pandemic has been impressive. After all, it's not often that a new "must-have" accessory has been so universally embraced, if not compulsory, so why not make it as pleasant to wear as possible? Luxe fabrics and funky designs have emerged in an effort to add a spoonful of style sugar to the bitter new reality of outerwear, and whereas before you might match your bag to your shoes, the ultimate fashion statement these days is matching your mask to, well, your entire outfit.
And if you're looking for some inspiration in that department, no one does it better than Harley Viera-Newton.
The perennial It Girl whose fashion sense has been enviable since she first hit the decks as one of NYC's chicest DJs has firmly maintained her style status through quarantine with a range of #OOTDs featuring pieces from her own label, HVN.
Over the weekend, however, she took her accessorizing game to the next level by boasting all cherry everything, including a matching hat and mask. The fruity print has become a staple of her brand, decorating everything from bikinis to dresses to PJs, so it only made sense to feature the design on a mask as well.
While the summery face-covering has since sold out (but might restock), allow Harley to give you a lesson in lighthearted pandemic dressing. If it doesn't brighten your day, it's sure to put a smile on someone else's face (even if you can't see it under their mask).
