The award acknowledges those who, in the tradition of the late Senator, further international peace and cultural understanding throughout their work in academic institutions in New York City .  The event took place at Meera's private residence - the former home of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt - and was attended by many international leaders of business and higher education who share Meera's love and passion for philanthropy and humanistic work.
