Last night I went to Pressure. You know, the place over Bowlmor lanes. The place everyone went when they first moved to New York (if they didn’t grow up here) because it seemed hip and classy. Well, when I went there last night it wasn’t exactly to relive my NYC mis-spent youth; it was to support Animal Care & Control’s “Party for the Paws”. Animal Care & Control of New York City is the largest animal rescue and adoption organization on the East Coast. Money raised at last night’s charity event will help AC&C continue to rescue and save the estimated 43,000 animals that they save each year. That’s something we can all raise a paw to.
As I waited in line to take the elevator, the door opened and about 7 dogs were paraded out. I wondered if they would make it onto PMC?? They did and I will tell you who else did: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.I used to listen to him on Z100 Radio, but I never thought I would have such a brush with greatness in person. But yes, Triumph was there and is on PMC! Everyone was mixing and mingling (with the dogs): Nicole Fiscella from Gossip Girl, Olympic Gold Medal Winners Lindsay Shoop and Susan Francia, skincare emperor Lorenzo Borghese, socialite do-gooder Emma Snowdon-Jones (on the eve of her BIRTHDAY), celeblogger Tia Walker, Power”PR”Girls Kristian LaLiberte & Timo Weiland, Cayte Grieve (aka HollyGoNightly), Zink’s Joseph Ungoco, PMC’s Jimi Celeste in an amazing snake skin patterned jacket, Mike Jerrick and Juliet Huddy from the “Mike and Juliet Show”, and Wendy Diamond from Animal Fair.
The best part about this event is that I actually saw socialites eating. I’m not talking about foie gras on watercress either. I saw pin thin girls and fashion conscious socialgays getting their “paws” into pizza, cupcakes, brownies and pasta. There was SO MUCH food and it was donated by top restaurants around the city. It seemed like everyone was indulging and it was nice seeing people let their hair (and their guard) down.
Special shout out to the gift bag! It had all sorts of fun animal toys but also Borba Skin Clearing water, Dr. Brandt’s Microdermabrasion in a Jar, Poo-poo pick up bags, Brittany Spears “Fantasy” perfume and a lot of other goodies. I was practically barking with delight all the way home. (Did you really think I wasn’t going to throw in some cheesy dog jokes in a post about “Party for Paws”?)
