The Best Dressed Guests: Week Of September 19th

by Chiara Atik · September 24, 2010

Everyone knows that the best part about going out is getting dressed up, and the attendees at the parties Guest of a Guest covers usually do this with aplomb. Here are the people (and outfits) who made an impression on us this week?

First Place: Selita Ebanks at the New Yorkers For Children Benefit

We would probably have a hard time choosing a second place winner from the New Yorkers For Children Benefit, where everyone was so exquisitely dressed, but the clear standout first place winner was the evening's host, Selita Ebanks. Gunmetal has never, ever looked so good, and the fact that she manages to look incredibly sexy without actually showing skin is fun (though of course the dress is body-hugging.) And the lipstick knocks it out of the park.

Special shout-out here goes to Lady Alice St.Clair Erskine, who showed up in a similar dress which we also really liked, until she was upstaged by the Victoria's Secret model. Don't worry, Alice! We still noticed, and liked your dress!

Second Place: Gold Sweater Dress At The Guggenheim Young Collectors Party

If we were casting agents, and we were casting a romantic comedy about a quirky young art patron who fell in love with, uhm, a banker (just work with us here), we'd probably put her in something like this; this is just what a Guggenheim Young Collector should wear.

It's more interesting than pretty (though it is pretty), and certainly not flashy or overtly sexy. Love color, and the way the gold is muted, but still shimmery in an unexpected way. She kept the accessories minimal, just a single cocktail ring, and a....fan? (Apparently they were giving them out at the party, but it would be cool if she brought her own.)

Third Place: Rooftop Cool At The (capsule) After Party

How do you keep simultaneously warm and cool during the "in-between" seasons? Wear a leather jacket, but keep your shirt unbuttoned!

In all seriousness though, we like this guy's outfit. Grayish jeans, denim shirt, and leather jacket keeps you guessing about him: preppy or rock and roll? His watch seems awesome, from what we can make out, and...is he wearing a ring? Hmm. Well, we could get used to that...
