Wall Street Guys Are Buying Lattes Again, Nature Is Healing

by Stephanie Maida · September 22, 2021

For most of the past year, the Financial District was as much of a ghost town as, well, the Financial District usually is after 7 pm.

But with the official return to office life for employees of Bank of America, CitiGroup, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and more, Wall Street has returned, somewhat, to the hustle and bustle of life before the closing bell.

A true sign that nature is finally healing? Bougie coffee orders are up for the swarm of caffeinated (and then some) finance bros frequenting the neighborhood.

According to Bloomberg, which has apparently been keeping tabs on Pret a Manger orders in its "Pret Index" (um, OK), latte and cappuccino sales have reached post-pandemic highs in downtown Manhattan, from Wall Street to Tribeca. "Sales are almost halfway back to where they were before Covid-19 struck... which suggests that financiers, corporate lawyers and asset managers are finally repopulating Wall Street’s empty offices after several false starts," the publication says. We mean, thank god!

For a full picture of Wall Street's triumphant return, however, we're going to need some stats from the neighborhood coke dealers.
