Rainbow Falafel

Rainbow Falafel
Hidden away in Union Square, the falafel spot can be tricky to find. It’s the definition of a mom and pop establishment, run by a father and his two children, the customer service is always friendly and welcoming. The line is usually out the door, and for good reason. The falafel is cheap, generally coming in at less than $5. The tabouli is fluffy and fresh compared to the typically westernized, grainy Tabouli that one can find in many Middle Eastern joints in NYC. Unusual dishes include the fried cauliflower with salad, for 7 bucks a pop, as well as a Middle Eastern take on the grilled cheese with a feta-pita sandwich. The baklava and date cookies are hard to avoid for dessert. If you need a wake up call after waiting in the winding line, their Turkish coffee is also available.  Rainbow Falafel 26 E. 17 St. [Photo via]
