What's your favorite salad of the moment?
Last night, performance artist Aki Sasamoto made a salad for me at MoMA PS1 that blew my mind. She fried these teeny-tiny fish with toasted sesame oil. They are called Jacko and they come dried in a plastic package; when you fry them they start to pop. Aki brought them from Japan, but you can get them at any Asian market. We put these over asian greens in from the garden, with a simple rice wine vinegar and sesame oil dressing. It was really different and delicious.
I am really focusing on how to play with and play with high quality, homegrown greens at the moment, since I am up to my ears...
