You've done some amazing projects; the Battery Park, the World Trade Center projects.
You've done some amazing projects; the Battery Park, the World Trade Center projects.
We were responsible for the World Trade Center’s beacons of light that illuminated lower Manhattan after 9/11. Historically, our roots are in lower Manhattan, so we’ve worked there a lot. Our very first projects were down on Wall and Broad Streets, and on the landfill now known as Battery Park City and the World Financial Center. We continue to do programming downtown.
How do you choose the artists you’ll work with?
We’re really interested in working with artists who we can help to take big steps in their work, and who at the same time can push us in new directions. Also, if I've done something before, I’m not doing it again. It’s not the smartest business model, but it does keep us interesting.
