Do you ever have moments of doubt about the projects you’re getting into?
Absolutely. And I think if you don’t have doubt, you’re probably not doing your job well.
Before we were working on Tribute in Light, I didn't know if small children who went to public school down in Battery Park City would end up having nightmares. The last thing I wanted to do was give children nightmares. There was concern that birds would get distracted by the lights and fly into the buildings to their death. Fortunately, that didn't happen, but you don’t want that to happen. So I always have fear, and I always have doubt. And I think that’s one of our strengths. Rather than trying to ignore it, we talk about it and solve problems around it.
