Welcome to the neighborhood! How is the Meatpacking District treating you so far?
The Meatpacking District has certainly changed a lot over the past 15 years. It started with Jeffrey in 1999 and has grown by leaps and bounds since then. Now there’s a whole new wave of businesses and institutions that anchor the neighborhood like The Whitney, The High Line, Hudson River Park and businesses like Google, DVF and Theory. These businesses and institutions do not simply just exist within this neighborhood, but they’re quite proactive and supportive of other businesses and initiatives within the neighborhood. There’s the Meatpacking Improvement Association and they do a great job at stringing everyone together. The neighborhood has been quite supportive of Fort Gansevoort.
