Fort Gansevoort is so unique, a full service sort of experience - this gallery meets retail meets barbecue hybrid. How have you been describing it to friends?
Adam and I conceived the idea of Fort Gansevoort when we walked the space together for the first time. We stood in the courtyard and said we need a smoker out here and need to serve BBQ through the window on Little West 12th Street. We looked at the 3 existing bars within the space and said we need to have a rotation of makers occupying these spaces through residency type environments. And also decided that the heart of the space would be the gallery, displayed across the walls of the second and third floors. We describe the space how we see it. We have a gallery, a BBQ take out window, 3 makers selling their creations, and a space that everyone seems to want to use for a private event.
