NYC Halloween Parties To Hit Up... If You're Into That Sort Of Thing

by Guest of A Guest · October 27, 2023

Is there anything as suspicious as a late-in-life Halloween enthusiast?

You're either born a Halloween person or you're not. It's as simple as that.

And for those who've spent the better part of their lives scheming up costume ideas, this year's lineup of parties should be a pretty decent time...

On Friday night, society favorite Save Venice is hosting its first-ever Haute Halloween - a black tie masquerade at one of New York's most haunted spots, Hotel Chelsea, that's certain to be the most respectable option in town, which really just means there won't be any polyester present.

For those more into the scene (i.e. not looking to wear a slightly tweaked version of a tux or gown), Evan Mock and Badius are taking over Boom at The Standard for a "Rotten" rager. And not too far away, should you just be mainly in the mood to dance, Miley Cyrus's older sister Brandi is DJing at Somewhere Nowhere's villain-themed costume shindig.

And for those looking to feel like they're at a Brooklyn warehouse rave, only bougie, MATTE Projects is hosting their annual fête, The Blind Man's Ball, at Weylin featuring a performance by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy.

Moving on to Saturday, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention the Washington Square Park Dog Day Halloween Parade, a too-weird-not-to-watch look at just how crazy New Yorkers can be about their pups.

After the sun goes down, which is basically 3PM these days, Bilboquet will be catering to its more mature crowd with a Grease-themed dinner soirée. So yeah, when you see packs of Upper East Side men and women of a certain age strapped in black leather get-ups wandering along Madison, chances are they're headed there.

Downtown, Ronnie Flynn and Dylan Hales's "Dead Celebrity Rock N Roll Ball" - solid theme, no? - at Silver Lining Lounge is sure to bring the fun.

Skipping ahead to All Hallows' Eve on Tuesday, Project Zero is hosting Neptune's Nightmare at PUBLIC Hotel, an "unforgettable spooktacular deep dive oceanic dance party" featuring "glamorously undead mermaids, sirens and creatures of the sea." Alexandra Richards, Aku + Niks and The Muses will be DJing, so there's no doubt the vibe will be good.

The coolest Halloween option of them all though is definitely scoring a coveted ticket to see The Voidz kick off their residency at The Murmrr Theatre in Brooklyn. Band frontman Julian Casablancas could actually be some kind of alien vampire combo, don't you think? Guy's just on another level of cool...
