Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx dates back to when the Dutch settled in New York City. The century-old park is one of the country’s most popular collegiate and high school cross country courses. The park welcomes individuals with a large open field but once runners enter the woods, nature acts as a sound barrier against the noise of the city. The park has a 3-mile and 5-mile loop which consist of both hills and flat trails.
