You may not want to swim in the East River but everyone loves to run adjacent to it. The East River Run is 16 miles long and starts at the top of Central Park and extends over the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge into Randall’s Island then to Queens and back. With its wide range of concrete and asphalt route, it accommodates a large amount of runners but is usually not crowded. Getting a late start? The route is lined with lights, so you can even get your run in at night.
