The Mark Hotel is usually the go-to for celebrities getting prepped for the Met Gala, but this season, the property itself is the one getting all dressed up.
The beloved Upper East Side staple has officially kicked off the holidays with a spectacular decorative façade sparkling with millions of Swarovski crystals.
Marking the hotel's first collab with a jewelry brand, and Swarovski's first holiday façade installation in the U.S., the festive setup, dreamed up by Swarovski's stylish Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert, has transformed the hot spot into a glittering gingerbread house complete with nutcrackers, candy canes, and two matching carts offering hot chocolate, festive treats, and edible oversized Swarovski Crystal lollipops. Each piece is covered in crystals, which have been imported from Austria and hand-applied by expert artisans.
Engelbert says, "The Mark is a New York City icon, and we are so pleased to bring Swarovski’s vision of holiday joy and wonder to this prestigious hotel. For me, gingerbread evokes childlike wonder, inspiring us to dream, so it has been a great pleasure to design an experience that will spark people’s imaginations at this magical time of year."
