Herman Cain and the 9-9-9
Is 9-9-9 the price of a pizza or is it the mark of the beast?
The evening began with former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain stating that he would implement his 9-9-9 plan, which is a 9% corporate income tax rate, 9% income tax rate. and a 9% national sales tax. This, of course, was ridiculed by the other candidates as often as possible, especially since Cain seemed stuck on the idea as his only defense and strategy of the evening.
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum polled the crowd asking, "How many people here are for a sales tax in New Hampshire? Raise your hand.” When no one did, he responded, “There you go, Herman. That’s how many votes you’ll get in New Hampshire."
Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman quipped, "I thought it was the price of a pizza when I first heard about it."
Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann even went as far as, "When you take the 9-9-9 plan and you turn it upside down, I think the devil is in the details."
So which is it - pizza or the devil?
