How did the venue affect the show? The building is so decrepit and there are layers of paint and wallpaper peeling off the walls, but to me that’s a beautiful thing. We photographed the walls and turned it into a print that was layered with foil to give it a polish. What kinds of things did you have to consider when putting together a show for 5 Beekman as opposed to in a more traditional space? Logistics! It’s not your standard venue. The most beautiful part of the building was the top floor, which was unsafe for large groups of people. There are things that we had to do that I’m sure people didn’t realize. The space is basically a demo sight! Everything had to be brought in from lighting and sound to all elements for hair and make up and catering. Art and fashion photographers were invited to a photo shoot on the top floor where the glass atrium is but since we couldn't have everyone upstairs we devised a live feed of the imagery projected on the walls downstairs.
