Haute Nights
Can you tell me a little bit about yourself, your background and what made you become a chef?
I was born and raised in Brooklyn by a Sicilian Italian American family. My mom and my grandmother raised me. All the men in the family worked down at the Fulton Fish market. My grandfather would bring home seafood and my grandmother grew her own vegetables in her garden.
My grandmother did all the cooking. She made everything from scratch. Made her own pasta, sauce and foccacia. When I would get home from school I would sit in the kitchen with my sister and do our homework. She would always ask us for a hand. It was something we grew up with and we loved it. It inspired me at an early age and I always wanted to be around food.
