If I’ve done my research correctly, disco-culture was before your time, do you think that impeded your ability to adequately grasp what was going on in the era? Studio 54Well, I may have been barely alive but I wasn’t an idiot. I mean even as a small child, I remember dancing in my underwear for my babysitter to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. So even at the tender age, I knew a good groove when it came to the turntable, which is what we used back then. There are people who are in the film and have seen the film who have paid me the great compliment. For instance, Joanne Horowitz, who is in the film, was a publicist at studio 54 at the time. She’s now Kevin Spacey’s manager, and she has seen it and she was full of praise. She said, 'That Studio 54 scene. Where did you get all the footage? That’s what it was like being there.' And I take that as a great compliment. I mean this is what you try to do; presumably, this is why they let you into the film making racket. The short answer would have been no I don’t think I had to be there to do an incredible film on disco. [Photo via]
