Lyn Paolo On Olivia Pope And The Collection
What does Olivia Pope represent as a character? How did you translate that into the line?
Lyn Paolo: Well for Kerry and I, early on we decided that we wanted Olivia to be a strong, but still feminine woman and that’s what we always strive to do. It shouldn’t be strong YET feminine, it should be strong AND feminine. We wanted [Olivia] to be the central focus in the room with all these powerful men. [Kerry] always says, ‘except in the oval office’ cause she that’s her weak moment, but I still think she’s tougher than Fitz. We really wanted [the line] to be soft and feminine at the same time.
