Staten Island
Snug Harbor: "It's almost 200 years old, and it's the largest collection of old classical American architecture outside of Washington, D.C. They have botanical gardens there, theaters - but it's so large, there's a lot of empty buildings, interesting little random fountains. You can just wander for a long time."

Staten Island Boat Graveyard: "It may not be tourist-friendly or even legal, but the
Staten Island Boat Graveyard, you can see it from afar and take pictures, which is how I've done it. But if you want to see living history that's strange and off the maps, that is the place to go. It's fabulous, beautiful history."
