Were you involved with nightlife and events prior to MATTE Projects?
MP: I'm a native New Yorker and have been doing events/concerts/parties since I was 17 - but my background is more music oriented than nightlife, necessarily. Brett started his New York career in hospitality, opening The Standard, and then managed a music venue before going off on his and our own.
MR: I spent my early twenties as the Creative Director of Strategic Group in its formative years. Noah Tepperberg was an early mentor of mine during the glory days of 'experiential marketing' so I had the privilege of working on some incredible events across the spectrum: Mercedes Benz polo tournaments, launching Sony Playstation 3, the Maxim Hot 100 party etc. It was pretty amazing how much money was being allocated to event based marketing in the early 2000s.
