Man About Town: Scott Lipps On His Favorite Parties, What He Looks For In Models, And Much More!
Tell me about how you started ONE.I was a drummer for years, and I moved to LA when I was 17 to join a rock band. My parents thought I was going the Pittsburgh Institute of Technology to be a scientist; I was going to PIT: the Percussion Institute of Technology. I joined a band back then called Black Cherry that had a singer who also sang for a band called LA Guns, which was part of the whole Guns & Roses movement. I did that for year; my band did really well, but then I hurt my arm playing drums. I was working on the business end of music, working for managers and record labels, and wanted to own a label. I started managing artists and bands, and at the end of the day whether you manage a model or an actor or a musician, its all the same, you plug in different contacts. I had a family member in the model business, who actually owned another agency in LA, and I started working there as a driver, and just built my way up. Did something draw you to the fashion and modeling industry? I thought in LA there weren't a lot of people at the time that took it seriously, and I really was interested in trying to incorporate some of these elements of what I really liked. I really wanted to have an entertainment company.
