The Strokes' Albert Hammond Joins SPIN Magazine at Hiro Ballroom

albert hammond at hiroHundred's of music enthusiasts crowded into Hiro Ballroom yesterday to enjoy free Budweiser and great music by The Strokes' Albert Hammond. Apparently the rocker has decided to try to do his "own thing" to have complete creative control over the music he's producing. Major League Baseball was another sponsor of the event and took creative liberties like changing our "VIP" passes to "MVP" passes. Special shout out to my dear (and one of the oldest) friends, SPIN's Liz Macfarlane for hooking me up with that!

The music was great actually. I haven't enjoyed a show like that since 2 years ago at the same venue where we gathered for SPIN's "Year in Music" party and saw both Gogol Bordello and The Cold War Kids on the same bill. Included on the MVP list was wanna-be pop star and debatable transvestite Brooke Hogan.
