Studio 54

Its peak was short but certainly sweet. From 1977-1979, Studio 54 was the place to show your face if you were a member of the country's celebrity artist brigade. Truman Capote, Grace Jones, even Salvador Dalí joined the droves of famed faces that went to this midtown spot for a good time. One heady night, the club dumped four tons of glitter onto partygoers that created a layer of sparkle on the dance floor that was four inches deep; the owner said it was as if they were "standing on stardust." What's more glam than a glitz that will stay on your clothes for months afterwards?
