The Waldorf Astoria

The Waldorf Astoria
As far as historic NYC landmarks go, the Waldorf Astoria takes the cake and certainly deserves a place on our list. Originally built in the late 1800s, the hotel's current location on Park Avenue has housed everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Frank Costello. Famous for its cocktail scene during the pre-Prohibition era, the hotels historic bar has given birth to many classics we still enjoy today. Today, the hotel is home to three different bars: Peacock Alley, Bull and Bear Bar and Sir Harry's. Saddle up to one of them and order one of the hotel's namesake cocktails, the Astoria cocktail, a potent concoction of orange bitters, Old Tom gin, and dry vermouth.
