Affordable Housing
Live in a borough outside Manhattan. Though Manhattan is the cultural hub of NYC, the lesser-known outer boroughs are only a short train ride away, significantly cheaper, and have some pretty happening neighborhoods. Try areas like Bay Ridge (Brooklyn), Sunnyside (Queens), or Jersey City (Jersey).
Also make sure to live with roommates: rent in NYC is incredibly steep, so cutting your rent in half or in thirds will make your living situation possible. Not having to spend half your paycheck on rent will allow a lot more wiggle room for fun activities in the city!
