There's more to fall than pumpkin spice people! Like, anything - honestly anything that will happen this fall is more exciting than pumpkin spice. But if we had to get more specific on exactly what you should be looking forward to this season, we can think of no one better than Blakely Thornton to guide you through the next few months.
The Co-Founder and CEO of the annoyingly cool do-good brand Civil Jewelry breaks down the five things he's most excited about this fall in NYC, and we have to admit, his love for early Christmas music is pretty spot on.
1. Indoor Dining
I know we're in a precarious state of affairs health-wise, but I am truly looking forward to the return of indoor dining on September 30th. I miss being able to meet with friends for dinner/drinks. It was/is one of my favorite things about living in New York.
2. Christmas Music
NYC Halloween as we know it may be cancelled this year, but I'm not in my twenties anymore so I'm okay with that. One thing I do LOVE though (don't @ me) is how Christmas music and decorations pop up all over the city IMMEDIATELY on November 1st. My mom's love for christmas is rivaled only by Mariah Carey's so it reminds me of home.
3. Upstate Trips
I'm a huge fan of a good trip upstate in the fall. Deer Mountain Inn and Scribner's are both great for that. I'm not big on skiing, but have grown to love fall hikes, or at least the outfits that come with hiking. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say I look forward to Aprés Hike Wardrobe and Whiskey.
4. Lower Electric Bill
Air Conditioning is cripplingly expensive (states at ConEd).
5. The Election
One way or the other we will know what steps are needed to fight for the future of the country. The Anxiety is killing me...
