Explore The City's Newest Fashionable Exhibitions
Your invite to the Met Gala may have gotten lost in the mail, but that doesn't mean you're not invited to check out the Costume Institute's new exhibition, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. You know, the Met Gala's actual raison d'être. Featuring approximately 100 men's and women's ensembles by a diverse range of designers from the 1940s to the present, the first part of this two-part exhibition "establishes a modern vocabulary of American fashion based on its expressive qualities."
Then there's the equally exciting Dior retrospective at the Brooklyn Museum - and fashion fans are definitely not going to want to miss it.
Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams explores the history and legacy of the iconic designer and his eponymous label that has stood the test of time. The exhibition brings Dior's creations and inspirations to life across multiple galleries, featuring an array of over two hundred haute couture garments as well as photographs, archival videos, sketches, vintage perfume elements, accessories, and corresponding works from the Museum’s collection.
