Cafe Wha?

In 1961, the night a 19-year-old singer arrived in New York, Cafe Wha? was filled with those snapping, smoking poets and artsy locals looking for a show. The owner of the nightclub let the brand new transplant take to the stage for a few songs by Woody Guthrie, and that's the story of Bob Dylan's first performance in the city. The legendary venue was also a launching point for the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Springsteen, and the best part? You can still catch shows on that historic stage.
