White Horse Tavern
Still a West Village staple today, the White Horse Tavern was a major hang for beat writers like Jack Kerouac, and was the famous spot poet Dylan Thomas took his last drink before he died. It was also a favorite watering hole of Bob Dylan, who became a regular in 1961 to see The Clancy Brothers perform. Incidentally, Dylan Thomas was the name that inspired Bob Dylan (née Zimmerman)'s own nom de guerre.
