Simon Doonan, Creative Ambassador for Barneys
If I had a Friday off I would spend a gorgeous self-indulgent day at Barneys. I know that sounds totally insane - after all I’ve worked at Barneys since 1986! - but here’s why: Our offices are blocks away from the store so I do not get to spend as much time checking out the new merch as I would like. And, most importantly, we often eat lunch at our desks so inviting a bunch of pals and having a lazy pig-out at Fred’s with no time constraints would be a freaky luxury. I would shop and then swing by Gene’s Cafe for a green tea and an oatmeal cookie. I feel about Barneys the same way Holly Golightly felt about Tiffany: it's a fabulous mood-enhancer.
